Speaking at the event, Toshihiro Suzuki, Representative Director and President of Suzuki Motor Corporation, expressed his gratitude to the audience while honoring the memory of his father, Osamu Suzuki, who passed away on December 25, 2024. Suzuki acknowledged his father’s unwavering belief in India’s potential, emphasising that the unveiling of the “e VITARA” represents a continuation of his legacy and Suzuki’s commitment to India.

Senior industry executives told ET new launches, especially in the high-volume mid-size SUV market will propel a doubling of EV sales in the country within two years. Electric car penetration stood at a modest 2.4% in calendar 2024 that saw record domestic sales of 4.3 million passenger vehicles.

Tata Motors unveiled three vehicles at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 in New Delhi. They introduced the Sierra ICE, Harrier EV, and Avinya X concept. The Sierra ICE will come in both petrol and diesel variants. The Harrier EV is Tata’s first mid-size electric SUV. The Avinya X concept is expected to launch in 2026.

Kia India unveiled the new EV6 at Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 and announced that bookings start today. The EV6 features an upgraded ADAS 2.0 safety package with 27 advanced features. With a powerful 84-kWh battery, it offers a range of over 650 km and fast charging. Kia also showcased the innovative EV9 at the event.
